The “Marzocco” Renovation

December 18, 2015 in International

La Marzocco was invited to the annual holiday dinner of the “Bandierai degli Uffizi” (Uffizi Flag Throwers), a cultural Florentine institution, in the company of its president Antonio Marrone. La Marzocco’s was represented by Massimiliano Valenti, CFO of La Marzoco, and Marta Kokosar, Alliance Marketing Manager, at the “Palagio di Parte Guelfa”, a historical palace in the city’s centre, which is richly decorated with original works of art by Donatello.

In the Spring of 2015, the Baniderai degli Uffizi began a fundraising campaign to renovate the Marzocco statue which currently resides in Piazza Signoria, the seat of Florence’s town hall. This statue, which Giuseppe Bambi wisely chose as the company’s symbol in 1927, is a copy of Donatello’s original, housed in the Bargello Museum. La Marzocco promptly responded to the call, keen on supporting the symbol of the people’s power.

Renovation is scheduled to begin in early 2016 and should be unveiled by the Bandierai degli Uffizi on May 1, 2016.
