On the occasion of the celebration of Salón de Gourmets in Madrid that took place from May 7th to 10th at IFEMA and also this year hosted and organized the finals of the SCA National Barista Championships, La Marzocco Spain moved to the Spanish capital to celebrate a signature side-event: “La Marzocco Secret Party”, as a closing party the last day of the tradeshow.
The location of the event was secret for all the attendees who did not know of its whereabouts until hours before. During the previous weeks, guests were encouraged to go and a find out a hidden hint placed in two coffee shops in the city; Toma Café and Hola Coffee; coffee mugs that contained a message where the location could be deciphered. Besides, all the participants of the championships received a personal invitation.
Now that the party has already been held, location can be officially unveiled: Espacio Mood Serrano, located in one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Madrid. Four hundred meters of an open space where a huge range of La Marzocco machines where showcased: Modbar and Home equipment, Strada AV, Linea PB and the latest Leva espresso machine, as the undisputed protagonist located under the spotlight right in the center of the room.
First guests began to arrive at 18:00. At 19:00 pm took place in a coffee cupping from Xorxios, specialty green coffee importers based in Galicia. The cupping was presented and conducted by Nolo Botana from Hola Coffee and excellent coffees from 7 different origins were tasted (Ethiopia, Colombia, Honduras, Guatemala, Brazil, Rwanda and Burundi).
At the end of the journey, a fun and spontaneous Latte Art Throwdown on the Leva. Sixteen participants were challenged and had to demonstrate their art by beating objects ranging from paellas, soup ladles to coconuts, etc. The competition was broadcasted in streaming on a large screen located in the center of the room.
As usual, GREY GOOSE was the main sponsor of the event. This time though, besides bringing in a bar serving a usual pairing at La Marzocco’s events; the popular Espresso Martini, visitors were surprised with the freshness of another of their signature cocktails: the French Mule.
In addition, the attendees enjoyed an aperitif thanks to the good food company, craft beer, live music, several surprises, community building time and much more.
